Munich to Prague - early train

Hi, my friend and I (2 of us) would like to take a train from Munich to Prague. We are interested in the train departing at 4.55am on 13 June and arriving in Prague at 10.44 am. May I know if this train is covered by the Bayern-Bohmen ticket? And our lodging is near Munich Harass station, so we have to take a train to Munchen Hbf. Does this ticket cover that as well? Last question, can we purchase the ticket from the vending machine in either Harass or Marienplatz station? Thanks!

The Bayern-Boehmen Ticket only gets you as far as Plzen. You'd need to buy tickets for the continuation to Prague. You'll need to take the U-bahn to the Hbf at that hour of the morning. I don't know if that is covered. If Lee sees this, he'll know. Worst case you can ask when you get to Munich.

From bahn.de: "An Werktagen Montag bis Freitags beginnt die Gültigkeit um 9 Uhr, am Wochenende und an bayernweiten Feiertagen bereits um 0 Uhr."

If you are planning on traveling on a weekday, the Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket is only good after 9am so the train you suggest would not be covered. The Bayern-Bohmen ticket does cover S-Bahn so you can use it to travel from Harras to the Hbf. It should be available from a DB ticket machine at least at Marienplatz.

Looks like 13th of June is a Saturday so that won't be an issue with the early trains.

From the Bahn webpage about the Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket, "Die Angebote gelten innerhalb Bayerns wie ein Bayern-Ticket".

Translation: "The offer is valid like a Bayern-Ticket inside Baveria." (The Bayern-Ticket is valid for all conveyances incl U-Bahn, trams, buses in the MVV.)

Also note the validity area for the Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket.

This map shows where (blue lines) the Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket is valid in the Czech Republic.

The 4:55 ALX train runs in the Czech Republic as an EX, which is covered by the Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket. Two of the ALX trains, at 12:44 and 17:02 change to ECs in the Czech Republic, and are not covered (even though the fare is the same as for an EX).

Marienplatz and Harras are both S-Bahn stations, so they should have a Bahn touch screen automat, which sells the Bayern-Ticket, so I believe the B-B-Ticket would also be an option. Harras is also a U-Bahn station; if you are going to Marienplatz, U6 would be faster. However, from Harras, the S7 goes directly to the Hbf. You might have to purchase the B-B-Ticket in the S-Bahn part of the Harras station.

Hi everyone thanks for your replies. I guess we'll purchase our Bayern tickets the night before in either Marienplatz station (where we'll be having our dinner) or Harass when we travel back to our lodging. I understand we have to validate our tickets, is it straightforward to do so when we leave Harass station around 4+am?

2nd question: How much korunas do we have to pay when we get to Plzen? Can we pay the conductor directly? I'm afraid we don't have korunas since this is our first time travelling to Czech Republic, can we pay in euros instead?

Finally, if we are interested in travelling to Neuschwanstein Castle in our time in Munich, do we purchase our Bayern (Bavaria) ticket in a similar fashion as the Bayern (Bohmen) ticket? Thanks!

Any Bayern-Ticket I've ever purchased has not required "validation" per se. The date has already been printed on it. However, there is a line on it where one person in the party has to print (Blockschrift) his/her name and has to be present for the ticket to be valid. I'm not certain about tickets purchased from an MVV automat at a U-Bahn station. If the ticket has to be validated, it will have the words "Hier entwerten", with arrows, printed on the end that goes into the machine.

Generally, the tickets from MVV automats are narrower and don't have validity dates printed on them. Tickets that don't have to be validated are too wide to fit in the cancelling machines. There will be ticket stamping machines at the entrance to the station platform.

According to the Czech Rail ticket shop, the fare from Pilsen to Prague on that train is about 100 Kc (roughly 3,65€). When I was in the Czech Republic in 2012, ticket prices were shown in both Kc and euro, but I don't know that they were taking euro (in Germany, for several years before there were euro to pay with, all prices were shown in both euro and mark to get people familiar with the euro).

"do we purchase our Bayern (Bavaria) ticket in a similar fashion as the Bayern (Bohmen) ticket?"

The Bayern-Ticket will definitely be sold in ticket automats in Marienplatz. Just make sure you buy one for the next day (Morgen). Bayern-Tickets are date specific and non-refundable.

Check whether you get a connection from "Harras" to "Hauptbahnhof ".
The last S-Bahn is at 2:17 am and the first 5:57 am. (There are other connections by bus and subway. ) The "Hauptbahnhof" was/is? closed at night and all the backpackers have to leave.

If you want an early start on a weekday to Fuessen, buy a one-way ticket and take the S-5/S-20 to Pasing station. There is a train to Fuessen (with a change at Buchloe) leaving ay exactly 9:00 am, so it is Bayern Ticket eligible. That gets to Fuessen at 10:55, an hour before the next train.
The S-20 bypasses Harras station, so take the S-5 or S-27 to the next station and change there.
