Munich to Neuschwanstein...

I looked into transportation from Munich to Neuschwanstein. Naturally it would require quite a few transfers due to having to take a replacement bus for part of the way.

I found a bus that's more convenient from Flixbus that leaves Munich at 8:30 and is due to arrive at Schwangau Neuschwanstein at 10:40.

I reserved a ticket for the castles and was given the following time:
Hohenschwangau 12:55
Neuschwanstein 2:55

It says clearly in the email that I must pick up my ticket 1.5 hours early by 11:25 at the latest.

Offhand, is the bus route on Flixbus usually reliable? If there's traffic I should worry about (this is on a Friday), should I cancel the castle ticket and switch for a later time?

I have no idea if Flexbus is reliable, but note that it uses the Munich ZOB (central bus station) at Hackerbrücke, not the Hauptbahnhof. You need to take any S-Bahn west from the Hbf one stop (1 minute) to Hackerbrücke station (or walk), then walk about 5 minutes to the ZOB. You'll need a 1,50€ "Kurzstrecke" ticket. So unless you are staying very near Hackerbrücke, you'll have at least one change on your trip.

The flixbus route gives you a cushion of 40 minutes (assuming it will take 5 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the ticket kiosk). That should be enough time considering the multiple routes they can take in case of a traffic jam. However, I would not be too concerned about the SEV in the train route, either. They do that all the time.

I'll be staying at LetoMotel Moosach and need to drop off a large suitcase in a locker at the train station. It seems to be 15 minutes from the hotel on S1. I would drop off my suitcase and then walk 10 minutes to ZOB. Does this seem about right?

Would there be traffic on the roads if I do take the bus which I'm leaning towards?
