My wife and I are going on the Best of the Adriatic tour in mid September. Flying into Munich 2:30 PM on a Thursday and will meet the RS group in Ljubljana on Sunday afternoon. We are thinking we should take the train from Munich to Ljubljana with a stop in Salzburg.
Our question is how to split up our time among these places (or somewhere else along the way); we have never been to Munich; is it worth one night and day in Munich, and then the train to Salzburg for one (or perhaps two nights), and then on to Ljubljana? We will be spending two nights and one day in Ljubljana with RS tour so would like opinions on more time there? More time in Munich? Let' s hear what you think!
Both Munich and Salzburg are worth a look and some time is better than no time. It would give you an idea of what you could go back to on another trip.
You’ll be getting only the briefest of tastes of all three places, which are all deserving of a few nights. From that perspective, it’s about equal and you can’t really go wrong. If anything I’d probably keep Salzburg at one night. Salzburg is low on sights and high on vibes. Leaning towards two nights in Munich, giving you a full day to find your legs and unwind. The train ride (can confirm between Munich & Salzburg) is very scenic.
Thank you for your ideas.
