I am going to Germany for the first time this September (my Mom use to live there, my sister lives there now, my family and I are going to visit her). We are interested in a day trip to Konnigsee.
I've looked into various ways to get there, and I came across a personal tour through getyourguide.com. It seems legit, but I wanted to see if anyone has any advice on this particular trip.

The trip is simple, no need for a tour. Get a Bayern-Ticket (35€ for 4 people). Take a Regional Express to Freilassing and change there to a local train to Berchtesgaden. From the Berchtesgaden Hbf there is a bus to Königssee. The Bayern-Ticket covers all of the transportation both ways.

With your family's level of local knowledge and comfort, I'm sure you'll have no trouble with the bus/train connections. Buses such as #841 to Schoenau am Koenigssee are reflected on DB train schedules.
