I will be in Munich in mid October 2023, and really want to see the Partnach Gorge. I'm trying to research how to get from Munich to Garmisch - maybe walk around some in old town - and somehow get to Partnach Gorge to do that short round trip hike. Can anyone give me some pointers as to how to get there? I've been researching and found their are buses to Garmisch (they even say a train. Is that so?) but how do I get from Garmisch to the start of the hike at Partnach? Thanks!

If you google Munich to Partnach Gorge, then click the train symbol, the options will appear. You can take the train to Garmisch, then a bus.

Buses are right outside the train station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. They will take you to the ski jumping stadium. You walk along to the right of the stadium and follow the road for a short distance to the entrance. This link is a well done video that might help you.
