We are to stay in Munich for a few days before heading to garmisch. We d like to rent a car while in garmisch. For a smooth and reasonably priced rental car option, would you rent out of Munich, the Munich airport or garmisch? The garmisch option looked quite expensive. We eventually would fly out Of Munich airport

Also, the Munich Airport is on the North side of Munich, the opposite side of town from Garmisch.
Perhaps you can compare renting cars on websites like kayak.com

We rent through gemut.com and pick up and return at the airport. Done this many times, although we’ve never spent a night in Munich. We always head to our first destination upon arrival.
Munich airport is out of the way in the opposite direction from Garmisch if you’re staying in Munich.
My advice is to check with Andy Bestor at gemut.com for prices and advice.

I've asked for quotes from Gemut numerous times. I always ask for the price with an insurance waiver (I don't trust credit card insurance, having read the small print and read reports from people who did and regretted it.). He always refuses to quote it like I asked him to. I've stopped trying.
