We will be arriving at 6:15am in Munich on Sunday Oct. 9th. We are plannIng on taking the train to Budapest, would it be possible, if the flight is on time to get to the main train station for a 7:30am train? The next train is at 9:30. Is the fastest way from the airport to the main station by train, or maybe a shuttle service, as it is Sunday maybe not to much traffic on the roads? I haven't pre-booked the train yet just in case of flight delays, but I see that the 9:30 departure ticket prices have gone up by 10 euros, does this indicate that the train has limited seats? Is this standard for tickets prices to go up closer to departure date? Thank you in advance.
I think it would be unlikely to catch 7:30 am train. And yes, ticket prices go up closer to departure date. And yes, 9:30 am train tends to be more expensive than 7:30 because you don't have to get up so early and more people want to buy ticket for 9:30.
I think it's very unlikely that you could go through immigration and baggage reclaim and then travel to the Hauptbahnhof in time for the 0730 train. And yes, the train fares go up as you get closer to the date as the discounted ones sell out.
Since you want to go to Budapest immediately after arriving at Munich airport, it would be worth looking into the times and prices of direct flight connections to Budapest as well as the train.
There are 3 nonstop flights he could make, but this late they are $400. The next day there is ac $100 flight
Thank you all for information, I'll catch the 9:30 train and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Can't remember where I read it, but will this train stop at the Hungarian boarder and collect additional fare or taxes? If so can I pay in euros?
Can't imagine such a thing. This is all Schengen. It might have been one of the routes stopping when running in the opposite direction to check papers and change trains as a result of the migrant issue, but i am pretty sure that ended early this year.
