My husband and I will be traveling right before Christmas and basing out of Munich for a few days before heading to a spa in Leogang, Austria to spend Christmas. While we do enjoy sightseeing, the winter weather makes it more difficult so we are looking for more experience based things to do and see.
We are planning on Christmas markets and a Bayern game and have considered Garmisch- Paterkirchen and Neuschwanstein castle. We enjoy unique or quirky things, experiencing things like locals and prefer a smaller place to a large city. Nature sites are always a plus as well.
Does anyone have any recommendations or must do/see things? We will also be renting a car if that helps.
