I am looking at a trip in October that would have locked dates. We would arrive in Munich the last weekend of Oktoberfest. We are not crazy crowd or beer people - but it is Oktoberfest….. I am thinking 3 nights in Munich and 3 in Salzburg. Would you stay in Munich initially or get out to Salzburg and then come back. Flights to Salzburg are difficult from here (Nashville). Any advice here is welcome!

The crowds at the fest will be insane the last weekend - The heaviest days. If you hate crowds, and you don’t really care about Oktoberfest, why are you going to Munich on the absolute busiest weekend of the year?
So I guess my advice is either reroute through AMS(?) or take the train.
