Munich S-Bahn Advice

Next week, we (four 50+ y/o adults) will need to purchase round trip S Bahn tickets from Turkenfeld to Marienplatz for a day trip in Munich. Three days later, we will be attending Oktoberfest, so we'll need to purchase another set of S Bahn tickets from Turkenfeld to Hackerbrucke. What kind of tickets should we purchase? We're not sure how many zones there are between Turkenfeld and Munich. And can we use these same tickets to go to other stops in Munich on the S or U Bahn? should we get a single day ticket for each of us to cover each of those two days of travel? Or should we get a Partner all Day ticket for the 4 of us? Thanks for your recommendations.

As long as the four of you are going to be traveling together at all times, or at least not split into smaller groups to travel, a Partner Tageskarte will be the most cost effective.

Also, Turkenfeld is in the third zone and you want go into the inner zone. There is no ticket for three zones. You will need an entire network (Gesamtnetz) Tageskarte (all day ticket). The partner version will cost you 24,30€ per day for the four of you.

A Gesamtnetz Partner Tageskarte will allow your group, traveling together, to go anywhere in the Munich MVV, by S- or U-Bahn, by streetcar, or by bus for the entire day and until 6 am the next morning. You could also use regional trains as long as the train stays inside the MVV. All four people don't have to be traveling together, but the ticket must be with those who are using the conveyances of the MVV. Anyone not traveling with the group (and the ticket) will have to stay put or purchase separate tickets.
