Munich private tours to Neuscwanstein and Romantic Rd

Thank you, thank you, fellow travelers, for the help you have given me so far on this short trip to Munich and how much we can get out of only one and one-half days. I traveled to Germany 3 yrs ago for several weeks and loved it, so this time my group of ladies are going to mainly explore Austria, flying into Vienna and taking several train treks to different parts of Austria ending up our trip in Munich for 2 nights where we will fly out of. That is why we are so 'scrunched' for time in Munich.

I would NEVER travel to Europe without Rick Steves EVERYTHING! my husband says I am his disciple.

We are all over 70 (3 of us ladies) and are interested in a private tour with good reputation picking us up at our hotel in Munich in mid-July, delivering us back there the same day, to the castles at Fussen on our full day including them getting our tickets for us in advance. I definitely will take your advice on not trying to the the Romantic Road on the same day. However, we will arrive at our hotel the day before at midday and would love for same or different tour to take us on the Romantic Road seeing the medieval towns stopping in one or two on that afternoon--we could leave by noon from hotel and since it won't be dark until after 9 PM we will have lots of daylight. No, in response to the person who posted who thought I just wanted to brag about how many places we go to--I am of an age that I know I may not get back there so am trying to see as much as I can in our amount of time.

Please give me names of private guides/tours and contact info if you have it. I am a sr reviewer for Trip Advisor and realize how important it is for us to help one another out when planning a trip. We are also going to Innsbruck so if you have suggestions for there it would be appreciated. We do better with smaller vehicles instead of large buses.

am going in circles on internet trying to find all of this out--we are leaving tomorrow but will keep checking my email and see what you advise--had the death of a dear friend recently or I would have had all of this done by now. Thanks for your help.

We are leaving for Austria tomorrow but will keep checking this site and my email for your answers.

I would not use Viatour, as they are just a re-seller of tours and certainly do not have a very good reputation.

You are making these arrangements a little late, as this is tourist season and you may find all the private guides are booked up. Have you already posted or looked on Trip Advisor for tours? All of the tour providers in the Munich area are going to offer private tours, just many of them won't be doing tours to any of the cities along the Romantic Road. Which companies have you already contacted?

I would give Dark History a try, and if he can't help you, he might be able to give you names of someone else that can.

All Things Garmisch might be able to help:

You might also look at "Tours by Locals" to find a guide and a tour.

Rick's book doesn't have quite what you're looking for, so I hope the other resources have worked. One local guide the he lists in Fuessen, with a car, is Silvia Beyer (p. 140), email is [email protected] and tel. 0160-901-13431.
