Munich Partner Ticket

Hi all:

We are 3 weeks out from Munich!!

We are arriving at 5pm and are hoping to take the S and U bahns to our apartment (unless the kids are melting down, we will spring for taxi).

I know we need to take S8 to U4. I know we want a partner ticket, and that we need something extra for the airport since it is further out. Looks like there is an airport ticket, and also an Entire zone ticket. Do those both come in 3 day form? We will only be in the city center except for the airport trip. I'm guessing there are ticket machines and we should be able to figure them out.

Looks like they expire at 6am on 4th day, which is the morning we leave for a 9:15am flight... not sure if we will train to the airport since it's so early, or better to take a taxi or something else? So looks like we will need another ticket anyway for that day since it will be right at the expiration time...

The fares for the Munich MVV tickets is shown here.

A partner (up to five people) Gesamtnetz (entire network, from the airport to your hotel) Tagesticket (pass for the entire day) will cost 21,30€.

The only three day Tagesticket is for the inner zone, which includes almost everything people go to see in Munich (but not Dachau); it does not include the airport.

Aaah ok, thanks. So I need to get a partner ticket all zones to get from the airport to the apartment. Then a 3 day partner ticket inner zones, then a one day all zones again to get back to airport. Then I can get the 3 day ticket the next morning to last until my last day.

Will you have three whole days in Munich in addition to the arrival day and the departure day? If you only need the inner zone ticket for two days, it's cheaper to buy two one-day inner zone tickets than a three day ticket. Depending on how close your hotel is to Marienplatz and the pedestrian zone, you might want to walk that day. Also, if you go out to Dachau, that takes a MVV XXL ticket (inner two zones).

yes we arrive Monday night, have 3 full days in Munich (but not leaving center), then out friday morning really early.
