Hello! My wife and I are planning a trip to Munich for Spring 2016. Our schedules either allow us to travel before April 20 or after May 8. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on Munich outdoor Beer Gardens and when, during the spring, they start to open? Will visiting (for example) from April 15-20 be too early? Thanks!
It all depends on the weather. If the weather is warm (15-20C) it is not uncommon to find many biergartens open in April.
Hope that helps,
DJ
If the weather is warm enough, they will temporarily open the beer gardens even in the winter, but usually only on the weekend.
I would expect them all to be open by April.
As stated, it really does depend on the weather. I've been to Munich in June and the Hirschgarten was closed on a cold, nasty day. I usually go late April - early May so I can attend the Fruhlingsfest (Spring Fest) in Munich, and have never had trouble with beer gardens being open. Just lucky I guess. My favorites, by the way, are the Hirschgarten and Augustiner Keller. Both serve Augustiner beer, which is my favorite beer in the world.
Once it hits 15c they could be open.
