Munich or Fussen in rain. Quick response

Staying in Bregenz on Lake Constance. We were going to do a day trip to Fussen to see castles. Can't get tickets into neuschwanstein. It's suppose to be raining tomorrow. Is Mary's bridge hike paved or dirt? Would it be better to go to Munich or do Fussen. Doing a train.

The hike is steep and slippery when wet. Without a Neuschwanstein reservation, I would definitely go to Munich instead, with a large variety of indoor and outdoor sightseeing available.

Hiking up from the castle, most of the trail is paved. Only the final portion is dirt.

Several posters have reported that the bridge is closed right now anyway.

Neuschwanstein is not that big of a deal--as it's a play castle.
Munich would be better time spent--rain or shine.

Does anyone know if Mary's bridge area is open. It was suppose to open the end of June but can't find any info on it.

Hopefully the information is current.

You might be able to get tickets for Neuschwanstein by booking through Radius Tours. That will be a long day trip, as it's appears to be over two hours each way to Munich.

See the official info of the Bavarian administration of Castles:

The comprehensive restoration of the Marienbrücke, the bridge over the Pollät Gorge, has now been completed and the bridge is once again accessible for visitors.
The hiking trail through the Pöllat Gorge is inaccessible until further notice due to a rockfall. The way to the castle and the guided tours are not affected.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
