We're planning on being in Munich April 9-14. It's almost the middle of our trip, however, there is the BAUM convention and all of the hotels seem to be booked unless we are willing to pay EUR300 per night minimum. Any ideas on lodging? I've emailed all hotels in Rick's book including hostels.

The first question that I would have: Is it absolutely necessary that you be in Munich these days? Munich is great but so are several cities in the surrounding area: Regensburg, Augsburg, Landshut, Landsberg, etc. You can stay outside the city and travel into it (or not) by train to see the sights.

Many of the Oktoberfest hotel threads have good suggestion for hotels outside the city during situations like this. I'm partial to the Tegernsee area.
