Munich Hotels

Hi guys,

My husband is heading to Eibsee with our daughter (who lives in London). After that trip, they will arrive at the Munich Central Bus Station at 12 noon. Daughter will head to Munich Airport to go back to London and husband is planning to stay one night in Munich to catch the British Air 7:40AM flight the next morning to LAX.

He would like to see a touch of Munich since he is passing through.

He may take the S-Bahn S8 to get to the airport. But he may not feel comfortable and want to grab a taxi.

-Can taxis pick up at hotels in City Center?

-Is staying near Munich Central pretty or gritty?

-I'd love any hotel suggestions as well. I see Hotel Schlicker has single rooms in City Center. I see a Marriott near the train and bus station.

Thank you!

Consider leaving your bags in luggage storage at the Central Station. Do your sightseeing, pick up your luggage, and then head out on S1 to Neufahrn Station. Hotel Gastoff Maisberger is directly next to the station. The next morning you are just a 10 minute ride on the S1 to the airport.

Hi!

I am using the Munich Journey Planner and it looks like the Marienplatz might be under construction in Munich City Center because I am not able to plan a trip using S1 or S8 from there to the airport. I see it on Google Maps but don't see it on this planner.

Does anyone know?

I think his plan will be to:

-Arrive at the Munich Central Train Station from Eibsee at about 12:00 noon with daughter.
-Check his small bag in a locker, send daughter off to the airport.
-Walk to city center, have lunch at Viktualienmarkt
-3:15 PM Join a guided walking tour
-Maybe have dinner; head to a hotel near the airport

The Hotel-Gasthof Maisberger looks charming.

Given his flight is at 7:40 AM, is it worth him staying off site at the Hotel-Gasthof Maisberger and taking an uber or the S1 to the airport at 5:00 AM? He is doing this Munich visit by himself and I usually play "tour guide!" lol
