Munich Hotels

Two that we have stayed at and liked are Hotel Lux and Hotel am Viktualienmarkt. The Lux does not have a lift, if that matters to you. but the huge spiral staircase is stunning. I referred the Lux over the other as it just had more charm, and the breakfast was cooked to order and very good. The other is fine, and the staff are very nice, but it is more of a sterile feel. They both fit your location request.

Hotel Schlicker or Platzl - both 1 mim from Marienplatz. You can check them out on TripAdvisor, but best to book on the actual hotel website.

Thank you! Those look great, but we need 2 rooms. Those hotels are a bit too expensive for our budget. I also found Mercure Hotel Munich Altstadt. Has anyone stayed there?

I am also looking for reasonably priced hotel near Marienplatz in Dec. Has anyone stayed at Hotel Isartor?

We stayed at Hotel Isartor last summer….our 2 families enjoyed..It was convenient for getting around …quick easy stop to Marienplatz…etc. Rooms and service were good. Very nice breakfast! We can recommend it.

If you stay by the train station, or even better by the University, you can find a much more reasonable hotel rates. And from either of those places it's just a short ride on the Ubahn to Marienplatz.
