Munich hotel urgent help please!

Hi all

We were to land in Frankfurt today, going to Nuremberg tomorrow for 2 nights before heading to Vienna on Tuesday...

Well, we are Stuck in the London fog debacle after two canceled flights to Frankfurt. Ugh

We were miraculously able to get a flight tomorrow evening to Munich, arriving at 7:35. I can't see taking the train that late for only one day in Nuremberg then Turning right around on Tuesday... So we are going to try to talk the kids into Munich instead (though we have been...) but of course, no hotel, no Rick Steves book (didn't tear that section out!)

I will search in the morning but if anyone has any decent hotels nearish the train station I would appreciate guidance! A separated room for 4 or maybe 2 doubles. Dang I had the perfect hotel in Nuremberg!!! Ugh. Best laid plans....train tickets, soccer tickets! Bother!

Anyway, let me know he faves please! Thanks!!

Kim, I don't have solutions, but you can buy the RS e-book right now to help you revise your plans.

We really like the area near the city center. Try MotelOne Sendlingertor or Blauer Bock. Near the train station we've stayed at Kings Hotel, Hotel am Opera, Hotel Isartor (near the science museum), etc. good luck

The Deutsche Kaiser Hotel is right across the street from the central train station in Munich. We stayed there last November. It is not fantastic, but its a good hotel.

We have made Hotel Bristol our go-to hotel in Munich. It's at a mid range price, about 1km south of the main train station, near the Sendlinger Tor U Bahn station and about a one km stroll to Marienplatz. Rooms are clean and well maintained, breakfast is good (great cappuccino, pastries, meats, cheeses, veggies, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt).

EDIT: Just checked their site. Searching Dec 18 - 20 shows no availability.

This is unfortunate---it is after midnight in London and you must feel pretty stressed. But I suspect a lot of hotels will be booked, as it is the weekend.

I suggest that instead of looking for recommendations of favorite hotels here, you go to a site like Booking.com and find out what is actually available. You can filter for "city center" -and 4 people. They will be rated and have reviews, but once you find something promising you can come back here and ask about location, etc. then go to the hotel website to book.

I did not check availability but on the RS Germany, Austria, Switzerland tour I stayed in the Hotel Viktualienmarkt which was well located near the old city center and comfortable altho not at the Hauptbahnhof.

So sorry for your travel plan disruption...have been stuck in SLC due to fog for a couple of extra nights and yuck.

It appears Pullman Hotel has a room for 4 for Saturday night.

Hotel Viktuelenmarkt does not have online booking---you have to email or call.

Munich Hilton: 1 subway stop from train station with entrance right from the subway. Should have availability

Another vote for Motel One. Basic, but cheap. Use your money to see and do other things.

What about visiting Regensburg instead of Nuremburg. Quick and easy day trip and the city is beautiful. Visit the Thurn & Taxi palace and the cathedral.

Hi,

I stay in the area of Munich Hbf at a Pension. A very nice hotel across from Munich Hbf is Europäischer Hof, Bayerstrasse 31, ie, just opposite of the train station. The tel # is 089/ 55 15 10. It's a three star and has a restaurant. I've checked this place out but have not stayed there.

There are numerous hotels in the station area from 2 stars to luxury. Also on Goethestrasse and Schillerstrasse, Pensionen and small hotels, a block down from the Europäischer Hof.

Kim,

I also like to stay close to the main station in Munich and would certainly recommend https://www.hotel-royal.de/pages/hotel as it's very conveniently located. It's on a street which some may consider "dodgy" (adult clubs and so on) but I don't find that to be a problem. The hotel is on the second floor and above, and it's very comfortable. They also serve a very complete breakfast. It's an easy walk from the hotel to Marienplatz and I never use the U-Bahn for that as I can often get there quicker on foot.

Hotel Uhland is also a great choice but it's somewhat more of a walk from the main station. As I recall, the walk is at least 15 minutes and it's in the opposite end from Marienplatz (Uhland is closer to Theresienwiese where Oktoberfest is held).

Still another vote for MotelOne. If there are no rooms at Sendlingertorplatz try the other one at the Munich East station (Ostbahnhof). It's a short S-Bahn ride from the main station and the center.

Hi all

Thank you very much for answering!,

Wifi is slow so I couldn't research everything, but we did end up getting 2 rooms at hotel Adria more on the east side of the center... We don't have to bevatntrain until 11:30 on Tuesday so we figure ok to stay further...

Now if our flight just takes off in a few hours it will be great"!! Thanks so much everyone for your time!
