Any recommendations for hotels in Munich? We will have 4 people - me and my husband plus our two teenagers (ages 16 & 18). We would love to be within walking distance of the Marienplatz, or close to a transportation station. Would love AC in the room. Thank you!
Unless your teens can share a sofa bed, you will probably need two rooms. Finding a single room with two queens is very difficult. We (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed in 2 rooms at Hotel Metropol. I tried and tried to find one room to fit us, no luck. Hotels in Munich are pretty expensive, too. It was a splurge, but the rooms were great, breakfast was amazing, and location was great on a quiet side street half a block from the train station.
There is 5 Motel Ones in the Munich area. Rooms with King Beds right now average 119.00. Breakfast is about 17.00. They have great lounges, and most are new.
Motel one (check pictures - it’s a decent option seems like) was one we considered too but ended up at Platzl Hotel based on lots of recommendations for it here.
Just a few blocks from Marienplatz, lovely hotel and wonderful breakfast. We stayed in their deluxe double room with sleeper sofa and asked for a room facing the courtyard side. The sofa was astounding what a good mattress it was and the room was very spacious. The room had AC and I imagine for most summer days it is enough; it was still slightly warm in it during the 90 degree heat wave that week though so they gave us a fan and that worked out.
Hotel Alfa.
Small Family run place across from the Hauptbahnhof. 15 minute walk to Marienplatz.
Another vote for getting two rooms at any of the Motel One locations. Great value for the money. Sendlinger Tor is the most central location but Deutsches Museum, Haidhausen and East Side (Ost) locations are all decent option close to the city center and transit lines.

We enjoy staying at the Mercure Hotel Muenchen Altstadt when we are in Munich. The rooms are nice and the breakfast is great. The staff has always been friendly and the hotel is centrally located and an easy walk to tons of sites.
Hotel am Viktualienmarkt
We had a room for 4 people. Very walkable area and delicious breakfast included in the price. When we stayed a few years ago we noticed there was also a Rick Steves tour staying! Highly recommend.
We absolutely loved Hotel am V!! But it doesn’t have A/C. So I booked Hotel Isartor for our July stay this year. I hope it’s ok!
Thank you everyone! We ended up reserving 2 rooms at Hotel an der Oper, based on the recommendation of a friend who has stayed there. https://www.hotelanderoper.de/en
