We are spending 4-5 days in Munich in May. We would like to stay near the Palace and main Train Station. Suggestions?

Nymphenburg palace is not near the train station, but it is easily accessible by the No. 17 streetcar from the north side of the Hauptbahnhof. Pick a hotel near the Hauptbahnhof (and everything else you want to see) and take the streetcar from there.

Judy, If you are looking for a hotel within walking distance to Nymphenburg Palace. Look at staying at Hotel Laimer hof. Tripadvisor #1 rated B&B for the area. We stayed there a few years ago and loved it, plus the price appox. $85/night. I plan on going back in 2 years for another stay. It's within walking distance from the Romanplatz tram station, which is served by the #17 tram.
Good restaurants near by also. Check it out, you can't go wrong

Don't know what your budget is, but we recently stayed at Hotel Metropol which is very close to the train station. Rooms have all just been renovated, it's very clean and their breakfast is great with numerous choices.
