Hi all,
Although there are a number of posts on Munich hotels, many of these hotels are no longer available. I wanted to ask people about the specific hotels I have thus far found still have rooms. We are traveling with an 11 year-old and 18 year-old and I think we'd like to be in the city for ease of access and so we can break off (you know how teenagers can be!). We don't want anything that's too fancy, more of a friendly, clean, gemutlisch pension for 4-5 nights.
Here are the places that seem to have hotels so far.
Blauer Bock (which seems to get a thumbs up from everyone)
Hotel Jederman
Hotel Bavaria
Anyone have thoughts on the pros and cons of them?
Vielen Danke!
Andrea
Andrea, how do you know these are the only hotels with rooms available? Hopefully either emailed or telephoned your hotels directly and didn't rely on some 3rd party hotel booking site to tell you the hotel was sold out. Booking.com is notorious for doing that, but all it actually means is that the rooms allocated to booking.com for a particular hotel may be sold out. That doesn't mean the hotel is actually sold out. Just so we're clear on that.
Main difference in your 3 hotels above are that the Blauer Bock is the only one located in the main city center...near to the pedestrian zones of the Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt and away from the seedy train station areas. Of these 3 I would definitely choose Blauer Bock just because of it's location.
Thank you. That's what I thought. No, I did call the hotels directly but I didn't actually know that about bookings.com so that's also helpful. Uhland does have a room available but is one day short for us and then I looked at a few others that were full and Hotel Munchner Kindle I haven't been able to get in touch with yet.
Munchner Kindl is in a great location although it is a very very simple property and some rooms have bathroom/shower down the hall. Bfast is not included there and you have to "reserve" it with the front desk the day before.
Did you try the Hotel Am Viktualienmarkt, Pension Lindner, Motel One Sendlinger Tor, Hotel Am Markt? These are all centrally located near the Marienplatz and away from the main train station.
I stayed at the Hotel Blauer Bock on the BOE RS tour Sept 2014 and loved it!!!!! Excellent location, very clean, wonderful breakfast and I would stay there again if I was in Munich. My single room was small, but the way it was set up, it was not cramped at all. And what a very nice comfortable bathroom. Lobby was nice, but the best was the location! No cons here.
