Munich hotel in December

Will be in Munich in December for Christmas Markets. I am looking for a hotel near the train station for four nights that is reasonable. I define reasonable as 200€ or less with breakfast. I need twin beds and wi-fi

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Schiller 5 is very nice hotel ideally located, in Rick’s book. Decent rooms, breakfast. Perfect location if signing up for tours and around 5 min from train/metro

The 3 best markets are in and near Marienplatz. Hadn't you rather stay near there so you can walk to the markets? The train station is a longer walk to go back to the hotel when you want a quick break or drop off some Xmas Market goodies. There are hotels near the Xmas Market that will fit your bill. Check out Hotel Schlicker-- 2min from Marienplatz and an amazing included breakfast.

Last year I stayed at Excelsior by Geisel and I have booked again for this December. It is east of the train station (not south or north) on a pedestrian street. You walk towards the old town and the Christmas Markets and take an escalator down to an underground mall then come up at Karlsplatz and its ice rink (eliminating a heavily trafficked intersection.) Then it is 10 minutes to Marienplatz on another pedestrian street - easy. The only hard part is as you exit the train station there is lots of construction. Stay on sidewalks and use crosswalks to be safe.
I reserved a couple of weeks ago and got a nice room for under $200.

"The train station isn't walkable to this area" - It's about a twenty minute walk.

First, the train station is not a difficult walk to the Marinplatz. But you don't have to walk, there is always the Ubahn.

I have used the Courtyard Suites and the Aloft hotels for business and like them. The breakfast at the Courtyard is very good.

I love Munich, but if you are just going for the Christmas markets be advised they won't take 4 days. On the other hand it's not hard to find enough to do in the city to fill that time.

I plan on one or two days in Munich, then day trip via train to other towns for their markets. My return home flight is out of Munich

I have absolutely no idea of the geography and spatial relationships in Munich. Originally I reserved a room at
Holiday Inn Express Munich - City East, Neumarkter Strasse 85B. It could be 20 miles from the markets or the train station. It certainly is going to be like any other Holiday Inn and therefore not special or unique.

In Dec. 2022, we stayed at both Hotel Lux as well as Hotel as Viktualientmarkt and our rooms are in at just over $200 US dollars, but we had triple rooms. Both had wifi. Loved both!
