Munich guided craft beer tour with food recommendations?

Hello,
Are there guided craft beer tours in Munich recommended that include food and focus on smaller, local venues? We’ll be there week after next. Thanks!

Off hand, I will say that there is not a thriving craft beer scene in Germany. You would think that Munich, the city of beer, would be a hotspot, and while there are some craft brewers, they are tucked away from the city center.

But, look at Walk With Us Tours and Get Your Guide. Some of the tours focus on the beer halls and the big brewers, but there are a couple craft centered tours. I don't have any personal experience with either group, just notes from some research I did for an earlier trip.

If nothing else, I can recommend the Tap House, a nice craft beer bar with local brews plus some other decent picks.

We had some fantastic food during our 5 nights in Munich last month.
If you want names, let me know. You should book at least a few days in advance.

If I may be a bit of a beer snob, please don't go to Munich for a craft beer tour. Instead, do a major beer tour. Munich has an amazing beer culture that is dominated by big brewers that make fantastic beers. This time of year the action has shifted mostly inside and away from the huge outdoor beer gardens. Most brewers have a restaurant or two of their own plus dozens that serve their beer on tap.

My favorite in Munich is Paulaner am Nocherberg at https://paulaner-nockherberg.com/en/. I suggest a reservation a couple days in advance.

BTW, don't know if you are going anywhere else. With the exception of Berlin, most German cities have relatively few craft breweries.

While you can do the craft tours, the regular 6 beers of Oktoberfest are so good that I recommend them. They definitely don't taste the same in Germany vs. the US.

I went on a Radius tour Beer and Brewery where we went to some beerhalls, got some typical hot and cold Bavarian food-the pork was heaven-and visited the Oktoberfest museum to learn about it. We had a wonderful American guide and I learned more about German beer.

Brewing beer in Bavaria is a craft that's hundreds of years old. "Craft" beers, which are big in USA because they didn't really have good beer 50 years ago, and not such a big deal in Germany. Every town with 1000 residents has (or had) its own brewery. Lots of them are still around. When you ask about craft beers in Munich you'll get looked at as strange.

For a smaller place, try Schneiders, just past the Rathaus, across from McDonalds. It's a student hang out from way back. https://www.schneider-brauhaus.de/de/unsere-speisen

But if you really want to do something special, look for Kloster brews. Here's a good guide. https://bavaria.travel/listicles/abbey-breweries/

Thanks, all!

These are exactly the recommendations we sought. The Kloster Abbey brewery was delightful (and a pleasant, short hike from town), and Ayinger, in Aying as well. We’re already talking about our next visit.

Kloster Abbey brewery

Which kloster (monestary) did you go to? I am aware of some outside of Munich, but I was unaware of one withing walking distance. Would love to check it out on my next trip.

Also, on your next visit I suggest a day or two in Bamberg to sample thier smoked beer and visit a beautiful medieval town.
