Hello,
I'm having a hard time finding a hotel or rental for a family of 5 (1 adult, 4 children). Seems as if I will need to get 2 rooms. I am not sure what are hotels or what are hostels? Because I'm traveling with young kids I do not want to stay at a hostel. Will be using the train to and from airport as well as to take a couple day trips. Any recommendations would be helpful.

Hotel Schlicker is our fav in Munich. They also have apartments for families. Included breakfast is so so good. It's less than a one minute walk to the old town. It is small, quaint, amazing staff. We stay there every time we are in Munich. We were just there for the Xmas Markets. We take a train to get to Munich, then a cab to the hotel. The subway to the airport from the hotel is a one minute walk, but we usually have them get us private van from the hotel to the airport as we don't like to deal with luggage on the subway. If the apartments are booked, you could always get 2 rooms or maybe one big room.

across the street is Platzl Hotel, more expensive, but safe and close to everything.
