Munich - Arabella Park hotels or suggestions?

Hello all!

My brother is planning his first trip to Europe and will be in Munich for Oktoberfest - I am sooooo jealous! But anyway, I have been to Munich many times but we had the kids with us and did vrbo and home exchange so not much hotel knowledge...

We were looking at the Best Western in Arabella park since it is near U-bahn and not super expensive (Oktoberfest obviously has the prices $$$). Seems to get fine reviews but just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this area or hotel and can give advice?

They would rather stay at a smaller more European place, but with Oktoberfest, harder to find! They will only go to that like 1 day, then spend the others days on other tourist stuff and day trips (5 nights).

Thanks for any advice on the BW or any other hotel ideas! Thanks!!!

I actually stayed around the corner at the Westin Grand for a trade show/technical conference about 25 years ago, and 2 days later was the start of Oktoberfest. It is a modern development area, lots of convention/trade show type events going on. Very convenient location with the U-4 stations nearby. It is about half way between Arabella Park and Richard Strauss Strasse stations. The U-4 will take you right to the Theresienwiese.

We stayed in this area a few years ago (mostly because our travel agent got us a good hotel deal here) and were pleasantly surprised with the area. The connections on the U-bahn were outstanding and we appreciated all the small stores in the Arabella park area. If you're getting a good hotel deal here and are comfortable spending ~20 minutes to get to Oktoberfest main areas, I'd say go for it.

I haven't stayed there, but we stayed at the Hotel Concorde (about five-minute walk to Marienplatz, U-Bahn stations, and the tram) which was a nice boutique hotel on a quiet street. We were just there this past September for Oktoberfest. I was surprised it was still available when I booked it on July 1st this summer. Our total for three nights (Thursday through Saturday - the Saturday was the first day of Oktoberfest) was $973, which honestly for as late as I booked and for covering a Friday and Saturday night, one of which was the first day of Oktoberfest, I didn't think this was a bad price at all. But I know that not super expensive is relative.

Hopefully others can help with the BW Hotel you referenced, that area, or have other suggestions!
