Munich airport transport to city center

I will be arriving on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m with 4 adults. My ? Is taking taxi or train to my hotel in city center? My friend wants to take a taxi and not deal with train. Does taxi charge per person and will Taxi have room for 4 adults plus luggage? Does train require a lot of walking to get to station and transfers once Iget to Munich? My hotel is right by Marienplatz.

It's very much up to you. Taxis are expensive in Germany and the S-Bahn will take you from the airport to Marienplatz but if you are tired from the trip the ease of a taxi may be worth it for four people.

You and your friends can travel with a group day ticket costing 24.30 EUR. Take any S-Bahn from the airport train station to Marienplatz. They go every 10 minutes, either S1 or S8. How much walking from there I know not, since you do not tell us the name of your hotel. Bonus is that the 4 of you, traveling together, will have the use of the Munich transit system until 6 am the next day.

Don't know what a taxi will be, but 50 EUR would be a good guess.

The average taxi price airport to center is approx €70, and a standard taxi accepts up to three people. You can order a "Taxi-Bus" (or "Großraumtaxi"), the price difference is not that much. Personally, I'd take the S-Bahn as suggested by Sam.

Taxi cost 80euros I think. We are staying at hotel blauer bock in sebastianplatz (old city)
I guess it will depend if we are tired after a 8 hour flight. Do you know if traffic is bad going to Munich in morning?

The Blauer Bock is actually about 1/4 mile walk from Marienplatz.

I've never taken a taxi in Munich, but I do drive from time to time in Munich. Short answer to the last question - awful.

Traffic in Munich is always challenging, and at peak times it can lose my interest quickly. I'm used to driving in London.

If I were in your shoes I'd take the train. Then you all have free transportation for the whole rest of the day. What's not to love?

A short walk from the Marienplatz to your hotel will feel great after a long flight.

Take the train. It is easier, cheaper and likely faster in the morning rush. And as Sam says you will have your transportation covered for the rest of the day/evening.

Buy a ticket from a machine and get on the next S-Bahn train leaving the Airport (both the S1 and S8 go to Marienplatz).

Seconding the S-Bahn recommendation. It's not a huge walk from the airport to the train platform (although it does take you across a square that's kind of mall-ish) and from there it's a pretty chill 40 minute ride to Marienplatz.

Take the SBahn. It’s inexpensive and very easy to access at the airport. If you are staying in the Marienplatz area the Marienplatz Station puts you right there. We stayed at the Hotel Mercure Munich Altstadt. There is a elevator at the underground station that will bring you right up onto the platz onto Kaufingerstraße if you don’t use the stairs. Our hotel was within a few minutes easy walk. Access the SBahn info on the Munich airport site. You can easily buy tickets on the train ramp.
