Munich airport hotels

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced Munich airport or nearby hotel with an inexpensive shuttle service to the airport? Thanks

We stay (are staying in a couple weeks) at one of two hotels in Freising: Hotel zur Gred or Hotel Bayerischer Hof. Both are within walking distance of the train station. From the train station you take a dedicated city bus (Bus 635) to the airport for 2.60 euros per person. The bus leaves every 20 minutes and the ride takes between 15 and 20 minutes. I believe you need the correct change. It is handy to know which terminal (1 or 2) before you go.

Hotel zur Gred was a less expensive last time that I checked.

A good place to eat is the Weißbräu Huber

I have to second Gary's recommendation of Freising. I've stayed there twice when I had an early flight out of MUC, and it worked out well. The second time I got there early enough to enjoy dinner and a few beers in the beer garden at Weihenstephen Monastery, the oldest brewery in the world.

Here is a link to an English language pdf file with all of the accommodations in Freising, including (page 3) Bayerischerhof and Zur Gred.

The same S-Bahn (S1) from Munich Hbf that goes to the airport splits in Neufahrn and the front half of the train goes to Freising Bahnhof (look for destination signs on the cars).

If you stay in central Munich, you're still not far away. The S-Bahn to the airport takes about 40 minutes and starts running about 3:15 a.m.

Hilton Munich City is near the Rosenheimer Platz S-Bahn station, only 35 min from the airport. Still nearly twice as long to get to the airport but 3 times as expensive. I don't get it. And breakfast is included at Zur Gred or Bayerischerhof, 29€/person at the Hilton.

In response to Laura's observation, most times I have flown out of MUC, it's been at the end of a multi-night stay in Munich, and rather than changing hotels, I've just stayed put and taken the S-Bahn to the airport in the morning. It's not much longer a trip from town. Only once, when I had a very early flight, and 20 minutes meant a lot to me, did I stay in Freising. The other time, I was coming in from another part of Germany and only spending one night before flying out, so Freising seemed to make sense. That was the time that I spent my evening at Weihenstephan.

BTW, a ticket from downtown to the airport is 10,40€ for one person. It's 2,60€ from Freising.

Does anyone know anything about Hotel Ampervilla in Fahrenhausen? We will be staying there the night we arrive in Munich and the night before we fly out. We will pick up and drop off our rental car at the airport, so I'm hoping it's an easy drive (as it appears on the map) to this hotel.

@bvmey

Never stayed there, and I don't know why you want to spend more money to stay farther away then Freising, but if you like it, it looks OK to me.

Incidently, the town is Fahrenzhausen.

Thanks, Lee. One of my nights is non-refundable but the other is not. I'll look into staying in Freising the night I can change.
