Munich Airport Hotel for early flight

Our flight home to San Francisco leaves Munich at 7:05am (yikes!). Stopover in Heathrow. We'll be coming from the Dolomites to Munich, and want to spend the night as close to the airport as possible. I'm guessing we'll need to wake up at 3am or 4am (yikes again) to get into the airport and clear security. The best thing would be to sleep in the terminal, like in our college backpacking days (which were many years ago). Does anyone have a suggestion - either for a nearby airport hotel, or a way to make this process easier? Maybe those sleeping pods inside the terminal?

We always stay at the Hilton Munich Airport. Not inexpensive but couldn’t be more convenient and comfortable. It’s actually in one of the terminals I believe. Grab dinner at the airport beer garden that’s right next to it!

We too stayed at Airport Hilton. Not cheap, but worth it for the ease of an early morning flight.
And we also had “dinner” at the Airbrau beer garden. Best burgers! Check hours for dinner.
Next morning, we walked from our hotel to airline check-in.

Hotel Maisberger worked well for us. It's right next to the S1 line station, good food, very large, nice rooms. We had to leave at O-Dark 30 for our flight to the states, but we were able to buy coffee and pastries at the station and take the S1 train right to the Munich airport.

The Hilton sounds like a good choice. To clarify, the hotel is next to the terminal? Or is it inside the terminal? Will we still have to allow time in the morning for clearing security?

Joe, I think the Hilton is technically adjacent to the terminal. I never did get a sense of the overall layout of the airport.
But it is outside of the secure area so you do need to go through security in the morning.

The Hilton is indeed adjacent to Terminal 2, which is Lufthansa and United.

Most non-Star Alliance flights depart from Terminal 1, which is a 10-15 stroll through
the shopping/public transport area of the airport.

There is also a Novotel located on the airport grounds, one train stop from the
terminal. It will cost a fair bit less, but you'll need to decide if the additional
walk/wait for the train is worth it.

Any other hotel in a neighboring town, unless you can confirm their shuttle schedule,
or it's easy walking distance to the S-Bahn, is probably unviable.

Thanks Shoeflyer. We're on British Airways, which is Terminal 1. I'll look into the Novotel option you suggested. I'm guessing the trains run 24 hours? Not going to be fun at 3am, but it is what it is.

Actually not 24 hrs. First train at 4:13am from Besucherpark to the airport, 2 minute ride.

Should suffice for your needs if you stay at the Novotel.
