My husband and I will be visiting Munich for the first time, arriving December 12 and departing December 19, and I’d love some advice on planning our week.
We’re looking for recommendations for a Munich itinerary that includes few day trips. For day trips, would you recommend relying on trains/public transportation or renting a car? We’re comfortable with either, so our decision will really depend on the destinations and which option makes the most sense. Our preference would be to use public transportation while exploring Munich and only rent a car for day trips if there’s a clear advantage.
I’d also appreciate recommendations on where to stay. Is there a particular neighborhood or hotel that you really like? We’re fairly flexible on budget and would be happy to spend a little more for a convenient, central location with easy access to public transportation and the main train station, especially if that means we can avoid renting a car for most or all of the trip.
Since we’ll be there in December, we’re also interested in Christmas markets and any seasonal activities or day trips that are especially worthwhile at that time of year.
