3 days GDL train strikes against Deutsche Bahn from Wednesday on (Jan 10)

People travelling Germany can expect heavy impact on train traffic in Germany: This time the strike will last three days.
The train drivers' union GDL is calling for a strike lasting from January 10 - 12.
Not only Deutsche Bahn (DB) connections will be affected.
The strike at DB Cargo is set to begin on Tuesday evening.
Most S-Bahn networks in German cities will be impacted as well because most of them are operated by DB.

Travellers shall check their connection on DB app or website.
Smaller and non-German train companies may still operate, e. g. Go Ahead in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
Expect flight, bus, hotel and rental car capacities filling up with bookings quickly.

Press release from GDL.

All the best.

Looking to travel on the 13th to Salzburg from Munich. Any idea if this will also be affected or should be good by then?

GDL strike is announced from 2am on Jan 10th till 6 pm Jan 12th.

Thus, train travel on Jan 13th should be possible, while it may take some time until the full schedule is available.
For the Munich – Salzburg leg I would expect that BRB and Westbahn will be able to run their trains on Jan 13th as normal, but do expect quite crowded trains.

Neither BRB/Transdev nor Westbahn are affected by the strike. They ran during the recent "warning" strike. Provided that the switch tower in Rosenheim is not manned by GDL members by chance (unlikely, as the GDL apparently has very few members there), they will also run this time.

[EDIT] ÖBB Railjets will not run because they are driven between Munich and Salzburg by DB staff, the majority of whom are GDL members.
