I am on a barge trip up the Moselle River. I am responsible for my own dinners in Saarburg, Bernkastel-kues and Cochem.
Any recommendations for restaurants or sights in those towns. I am assuming these towns are small.
In Saarburg just head for the waterfall and use one of the places along the walkway. Or, if it's open, keep going up into the castle and eat at the place there. https://burgrestaurant-vincenzo.de/
At Bernkastle-Kues my preferred place to eat is actually outside the town by 4 km. The Kloster Machern as decent food, good beer, okay wine, and a great view. https://www.brauhaus-kloster-machern.de/ Walk or take a cab. (I was there last Saturday.)
In Cochem I usually just hit a shop beforehand and picnic on a bench by the river. The Lutz Bakery has good sandwiches and drinks if you're so inclined. I find most of the restaurants too expensive for what they serve, and a couple are so bad I was embarrassed to be in them.
Sights? In Saarburg it's the castle and waterfall. But if you have time there's a predatory bird park and a rodelbahn. In Bernkastle-Kues it's the wine cellars and castle (stiff hike). There's also an excellent car museum (the Zilenderhaus. If you go, say hello to Chris.) In Cochem it's the castle (again).
These are tourist towns. They have a lot of stuff on sale that you probably don't need at prices you can beat at any Globus or Kaufmarkt.
