After a day and night in the Mosel region, our family of four plan to drive down to Zurich while seeing Baden-Baden (overnight) - Strasbourg (overnight) - Gengenbach - Triberg (solely for Clocks) - Freiberg (overnight), Basel - Zurich (overnight or two?), before heading into France. Is this feasible, as in be able to see the places reasonably well? Please advise.
Why Zurich?
Couple reasons - 1) didn't get to see it properly the last time we were there so figured this way I get to squeeze it in without going out of the way; 2) Need to get to Avignon where the France segment of our trip will begin & it would be easier from a bigger city (?)...
Meaning you are flying? It is just as easy from Basel driving. Zurich is an expensive city, which is otherwise not too exiting and a big detour with a car. And you know about buying a vignette for Switzerland, right?
True that because aside from all the tolls, there's the cost of returning the car in a different country. We could return the car at Freiberg and train to Basel and Zurich then to Avignon from there...
