We are staying 3 nights in mittenwLd. I booked 1 night in Hall in Tirol on our way to Salzburg (staying 2nights). Is it worth staying 1 night in Vipiteno instead of one night in HIT? Before heading to Salzburg. Will have a car.

I really liked both. We stayed in Vipiteno many years ago, the main drag to it from Innsbruck was very busy even then.
I’m not one for changing locations too frequently. I’d stay in Mittenwald an extra night and visit Hall from there. Pop into Schloss Ambras on the way.

I agree with Mittenwald for another night. It's about our favorite town. Great food at the Alpenrose, music some nights. If weather is clear, take the cable car to the peak to the south. Or take a bus to Lake Fehrchensee and eat outside. Violin museum was interesting.

We stayed in cute Mittenwald for a few nights and enjoyed the activities that have been mentioned. Yes, the violin museum is very interesting, and we liked the hiking, etc.
Personally, I would stay one night at one of the towns you suggested instead of staying four nights in Mittenwald.

Well, the old town of Hall in Tirol is a favorite of ours. We were there in Dec 24 for our 6th stay.
Vipiteno isn’t on the way to Salzburg. We’ve been a couple of times and it’s nice enough, but don’t go out of your way to see it.

Sterzing/Vipiteno is in Südtirol/Alto Adige Italy is a detour from Mittenwald to Salzburg for only 1 night stay.
Better choose Hall in Tirol
and depending on what way you go to Salzburg from Mittenwald also Oberaudorf or Reit im Winkl both small villages in Germany
Here a nice Hotel/Guesthouse in Niederaudorf
