Trying to plan 2 days. Day one. Arrive in GP early, drop bags a hotel and go to Mitt for
the day for schafabtrieb, then back to GP and go to Partnach Gorge next day. Or should I stay in Mittenwald and do the reverse. Any thoughts? How much time do I need for Partnach Gorge?

Depends on how many people are there, and if you walk from your hotel or drive to the parking area. I would estimate as little as one hour, as much as three.

According to the website for Bavarian regional rail, there are lockers on the station platforms at both Garmisch-Partenkirchen and at Mittenwald.
The closest you can get by car to the Partnachklamm is the Ski Stadion parking lot. There are also bus connections via the GaPa Bahnhof to the Ski Stadion.

My two cents, stay in Mittenwald. We stayed twice and loved both stays. Also visited on yet another trip.

Good info. Thanks for the heads up about the lockers, i may have a suitcase. I've book a room in Mittenwald but may end up in GP for timing sake.
