What do they show you for 31 euro or more? Their website don't say, which leads me to believe they don't want you to know because you could do it yourself for less. I've been to Munich eight times without taking the tour and I don't feel deprived.

I did the tour many years ago. Wasn't impressed. I covered most of the territory on foot the day before, and you only enter one building, a church. It might be useful as a means to meet fellow travelers, but just to see the city itself, you can easily do it on your own.

I haven't been on a bike tour, let alone on Mike's Bike Tour because riding a bike hurts my knee, but I think people who go on this just want to enjoy seeing Munich on a bike. Perhaps they are traveling alone and see this as a good way to see a lot of the city while also making new friends. Reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, it looks like they have fun.

thank you all for your responses. I did read that you only ride for about 400 yards and stop to see something. my family and I can definitely do this by foot. No need to pay extra money for this kind of bike tour. thank you for confirming my thoughts.

It's possible to just rent bikes from Mike and do your own self paced tour. The shop will give you a map and highlight places to see. The bike tour covers a lot of ground so thinking you can do it by foot is not realistic.

Munich is a great city to explore by bike. The terrain is flat, lots of bike lanes and paths and the Englischer Garten is great for exploring by bike.

If you choose an independent bicycle tour, I would also suggest that if you have clear skies, head out to the hills around the Olympic Stadium. You'll ride through a relatively modern and uninteresting section of the city, but your reward will be Munich's best view of the Alps.
