Has anybody stayed at this hotel? Wondering if the hotel is any good and how the surrounding area is (restaurants, sites, etc.).

The area is is fine , the hotel I stay in is a few blocks away . I have not stayed in this particular Mercure , but have , in many others , including several Mercures on my upcoming trip , and have never had a bad experience in them . They are clean , comfortable and pleasantly decorated .

I agree with steven. I also have never stayed at this one but I have at others in the chain throughout France and Germany.
Perfectly acceptable, all of them. On the Accor scale of properties above Novotel and below Sofitel.
The Mercure range tends to be more individual than the others.

I too haven’t stayed at the Wittenbergplatz Mercure but we stay just 1/2 block down the street from it when we are in Berlin. We have been staying by this U-Uban stop for years, more than 10 visits. I love the location for getting around, the market at the Platz several days a week, the closeness to the Tiergarten and the KaDeWe.
EDIT: the last time we were there we discovered a small traditional German style restaurant half way down our usual street, Bayreuthstrasse.
