Medical insurance for trip to Germany

Does anyone have recommendations for medical insurance while traveling in Germany?

We've got the basic trip protection covered, we are looking specifically at medical coverage. Allianz has such a policy and that is what we are leaning towards getting, but I wanted to see if anyone had other recommendations that they may have had success with while traveling.

Thank you!

We like USAA, but have never filed a claim. If you have pre-existing conditions and want those covered, most policies require purchase within 10-14 days of the first item you booked. Safe travels!

My US insurance covers me overseas, so I haven't had to shop for travel medical coverage. However, I remember several earlier posts mentioning GeoBlue, part of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield family. You should be able to find those posts via the Search function here.

Evacuation coverage is worth consideration. Medical evacuation can be mortgage-the-
house expensive.

I never really understood the Medical evacuation coverage and why the limits were set so high.

What if you had to get sent home on a private medical jet? Imagine what that would cost?

As far as medical treatment you might need in Germany, you'll be shocked, shocked, at how inexpensive it is compared to USA. The people who really need medical travel insurance are Europeans traveling to the USA.

Yes, but if someone is in a coma or has family they need to get back to, the cost of medical treatment in Europe is probably not a big issue. Getting home is, however.

I always get medical evacuation insurance through GeoBlue, which is part of Blue Cross Blue Shield. I don't ever want to be by myself in Europe with medical needs.

I purchase an annual plan from GeoBlue (part of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield family). I am generally traveling internationallly 3 or 4 times per year, so the annual plan makes sense for me and is quite affordable.
