We'll be in Berlin on May 1. Not sure what to expect to be open/closed. I'm assuming public transportation and most restaurants will be open while most museums won't be. Thinking it might be a day to explore Potsdam without planning any entries, then see Potsdam sights that require admission on Tues, May 2. Thoughts?
The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (SMB) website states their museums are open on 1 May (Labour Day) with Sunday-operating hours (except for the Museum of Musical Instruments)
- SMB openings on specific holidays (English)
- SMB locations (English)
Do check out the websites for other museums or places of interest to see if they're open or closed.
Thank you Henry
Museums are usually open on holidays except for Good Friday, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. For other holidays it is a good idea to check, but they are often a popular day to visit a museum.
Riots. Expect riots. At least in certain parts of Berlin. It's tradition.
@Dave
I hope you're kidding since we will be in Berlin on May 1
No kidding. This is a tradition in Berlin.
Maybe that "Berliner Tradition" will take place in the Wedding district, true to its history.
