I just read that Mary's Bridge will be closed on July 6th for renovations. We will be visiting on an RS tour during that time. We're disappointed that we won't get that experience. For those having visited already, how would that impact our castle visits?
That's a shame but it's a photo op, won't impact your visit to the castle.
According to the Hohenschwangau website, Mary's bridge will be closed starting August 3, for an undetermined time.
As the others have pointed out, it's a popular photo-op, but not the only one. Closure would make access to some of the hiking trails above the castle much more difficult, but if you haven't planned on that anyway, it won't matter.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the Lovelock plague that has infected other bridges in Europe? I remember seeing a few last time I visited....
Dear, when I read your post I was in shock too since I'd be there in July but I think wait a minute, that should be their highest season, they shouldn't disappoint the visitors. I open the web back and this is what I find
'Closure of the Marienbrücke
From 3 August 2015 the Marienbrücke, the bridge over the Pollät gorge, will be closed to visitors due to major renovation work. The work is expected to continue until mid-november 2015.'
It seems this is a new updated information? They delay it until August phewww and I think actually the part that is closed is only the portion near the Pollat Gorge where there's the rockfall? The access to Pollat Gorge is still closed until now due to rockfall from like a month, 2mths ago.
