Martha Argerich and Mischa Maisky performing in the synagogue of Görlitz

For those of you who have already visited Görlitz, here is a little souvenir: Martha Argerich and Mischa Maisky are giving the opening concert of the recently founded Lausitz Festival in the empty (due to Covid) synagogue of Görlitz. By chance, the synagogue had survived the so-called "Reichspogromnacht" of 1938, but had fallen into disrepair during GDR times. Now the restoration of that beautiful Art Nouveau style bulding is nearing completion.

Great; now I have a reason to go see Goerlitz for the third time. Lovely place, and not overrun by tourists because of its location on the Polish border.
