I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if Traunstein and Neubeuern, Germany have weekly town markets? If so, which day of the week should we plan to visit Traunstein and Newbeuern? Thank you!!!!!
Hi,
I've been through Traunstein only on the train en route from Munich to Salzburg. If the weekly town markets are like those of other ones I've seen in Germany (Lüneburg, Tübingen), I would guess they take place on Wed and Sat. mornings.
According to Traunstein Tourist Info they have regular market days: Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. They open around 10 a.m. and leave when their goods are sold, as early as noon or a couple of hours later. Mostly, they sell wares you can take with you; also homegrown veggies, eggs, smoked meats, etc.
Neubeuern does not seem to have regular market days but according to their website they have market events on June (11th and 12th), selling artisanal crafts like traditional Bavarian clothing, silver smithing, hats, shoes, etc. There will be musical offerings around the square. July 12th is the annual flea market and on November 6 is the next huge market, offering everything imaginable from food, clothing to other goods. Neubeuern also mentions a farmers market in Winkl, scheduled for October 9 this year.
