We have extra day in Mainz before our tour starts. We would like to take that day and go to Burg Eltzeve. We do not have a car reserved . What would be the best method of transportation to achieve us to see Burg Eltz.

When? There may be bus service from nearby train station, but may depend on the day of the week. Otherwise, if it is a pleasant day and you are not averse to hiking, there is a trail through the forest from Moselkern station.
