Luggage storage in Forchheim

I am wanting to make a short stop (3 or 4 hours)while passing through Forchheim on the train, but do not really want to schlepp my suitcase with me through town. Is the a luggage storage counter or storage lockers in the train station there?

The Forchheim station is a small commuter station and according to www.bahnhof.de there are no lockers. I'd email the tourist information for help: [email protected]

There are two Bahnhofs in Germany with the name, Forchheim. There is Forchheim b. Karlsruhe, and there is Forchheim (Oberfr) a little north of Nürnberg, in Oberfranken.

SLA, being from Bavaria, immediately assumed it was the Bavarian Forchheim. Is that the one you mean? The Bahnhof at Erlangen is only 8 minutes away by S-Bahn; you might be passing through it on your way if you are coming out from Nürnberg. And the Erlangen Bahnhof has Schließfächer (lockers).

If you can tell us which Forchheim you mean, and from where you are coming and to where you a going when you leave, some of us can find a nearby station with lockers. If you are traveling with a railpass or a Länder-Ticket, a little backtracking will cost you nothing.

Here is a page where you can input station name, with date and time, and get all of the arrivals and departures within an hour of the time (which you can change), and the stations that the train stops in on the way. Then you can check to see if any of those stations have lockers.

Here's where I get to give a pitch for packing light with a convertible backpack bag. Since my packed bag weighs less than 12 lbs, it's not difficult to visit a town in transit for a few hours wearing it on my back.

Forchheim in Oberfranken is where I'd like to stop for a few hours traveling from Bamberg to Regensburg.

It looks to me like there are at least 2 trains from Bamberg to Forchheim every hour during the main part of the day. There is an S-Bahn at 12 minutes after and a regional train at 36 minutes after. The S-Bahn makes stops and takes 18 minutes; the regional train goes non-stop and take 14 minutes. There are so many trains and there are so many trips, I would just leave the bag in a locker in Bamberg Bhf (there are lockers there), go to Forchheim, visit, then come back to Bamberg, get your bag, and go on to Regensburg.

So the Bahn says there are no lockers at Forchheim and BEG says there are. Who do you want to trust?

The only thing I can compare this to was few months ago when the Bahn said there were no lockers at Füssen, but BEG still said there were. I know exactly where the lockers were in Füssen (I have a picture, and I have used them). Turns out there were then no lockers in Füssen. They tore down the old Bahnhof to build a new one and the lockers went with it. Hopefully they will put lockers in the new Bahnhof, but the point is that the Bahn had it right, BEG was just late adjusting to the new situation.

Who do you want to trust?

Presently, neither of them, the problem being that the station is currently being rebuild in the course of the construction of the new high speed line Nürnberg - Berlin. So I doubt that these sites will reflect the current reconstruction status in real time. I have phoned the tourist information at Forcheim, btw, and they have no idea either.

Update: the service hotline of DB Nürnberg (0911 2191055) tells, hopefully not based on outdated information, that there are lockers at Forchheim station.
