Luge/Tobbogan Rides

Anyone recommend or know of any Luge/Tobbogan runs which can be used in August that are close to Munich? And accessible via a train?

Only one I found so far researching is on Lake Schillersee which we can reach by train then a small ferry to the other side and cable car to the top.

Would like to do another one in August but won’t have a car. So if any others are accisbke via public transport that anyone knows of ?

There is a sommerrodelbahn in Garmisch-Partenkirchen http://www.sommerrodelbahn-gap.de/ at the far end of the Olympic car park. There are buses which server that area - most people are going to the fabulous canyon experience of the Partnachklamm or Partnach Gorge. https://www.gapa.de/en/Ort-Umgebung_en/Attractions/Partnach-Gorge which is well worth seeing if you are in the area.

I have been through the gorge and loved it, I have not yet ridden the specific sommerrodelbahn at GaP. I include it because it meets your needs and has a good reputation.

Rereading your question - you aren't asking for snow luge or toboggan rides in August right? You understand that the summer ones are on wheels (and very fast)?

Hi Robert- I was not impressed by the luge in Garmisch. And the one in Fussen was not particularly exciting. Just my take...
Have a great trip!!!

Thanks Nigel. Correct summer ones on wheels. Will look into the Chimsee one

Kenneth - the link Nigel put for the Garmish one has a video of the course. I can see what you mean, it doesn't look that impressive going down that one.

Hi again Robert- Gundersen's suggestion for the Kolbensesselbahn looks like your best bet. It's a walk about 2/3rds of a mile west from the Oberammergau Bahnhof. Let us know if it is worthwhile. I am going to try it this September if the weather cooperates--

Have a great trip!!!.
