Lufthansa or Norse. Which is better?

I am looking for flights to Munich.

1) Lufthansa. Booking from American Express Travel. JFK to Frankfurt (Lufthansa), Frankfurt to Munich (train). The return trip is Munich to JFK (Lufthansa). Premium Economy. Estimated cost: $5,852 for three people.

2) Norse. Booking from Dohop on FlyNorse.com. JFK to Oslo (Norse), Oslo to Munich (Norwegian). The return trip is Munich to London (easyjet), London to JFK (Norse). Economy Light. Estimated cost: $3,156 for three people.

Lufthansa or Norse. Which one have you taken, and can you share your experience? Is it worth going with Norse for the lower cost? For Lufthansa which is the German hub?

Please bear with me. This is first time in a while buying tickets to Europe. Last time I heard 800 Euros / $866 USA was considered high for one person.

Which airlines would you recommend for flights to Munich, Germany?

Frankfurt and Munich are Lufthansa's hubs.

And it is not really a fair comparison to compare Premium economy with Economy light.

Is it worth going with Norse for the lower cost?

The comparison you describe leaves it unknown whether Norse is truly the lower cost airline.

What is the cost for Economy lite on Lufthansa?
What is the cost for Premium econ on Norse?

What is the cost on each of the airlines' sites? Buying via a 3rd party can often make for misery if something goes sideways.

One advantage to Lufthansa is that they are part of an alliance with United, Air Canada, Turkish and many others. Norse is not in an alliance. The Norse fares are very tempting (I keep looking at them to Berlin) but a carrier in an alliance means you have a lot more options if something goes sideways with your Lufthansa flight. Not so much with Norse.

If you are seriously considering Norse, be sure to carefully research all the additional charges, like checked bag, being able to choose your seat (I think even in Premium Economy on Norse, you pay extra to choose your seat).

Also, the routing you suggest with three different carriers, Norse, Norwegian and EasyJet, just sounds like a recipe for a giant headache and or lost luggage, especially if it's been a while since you traveled in Europe. Those kinds of itineraries are for people who don't mind sleeping in airports, in my opinion.

No matter who you book with, book directly through Norse or Lufthansa's website. The AMEX travel portal is probably okay too. But in general it is a bad idea to book through third parties.

Thank you, everyone. I went with another airline. Icelandair. Economy Standard. Bought directly from the airline page.
