Lufthansa COVID tests

We will be flying St. Louis to Rome with a layover in Frankfort on Lufthansa. We are not vaccinated. I understand that no testing is required in Italy anymore, and even when I search for Germany it also seems that this is the case. Lufthansa’s website just links you to the Germany or Italy entrance requirements (all restrictions lifted.) however, when I called Lufthansa to ask if we needed testing, I got someone with such a thick accent we couldn’t understand each other, after several go arounds, she insisted that we still needed a negative test. So, while I will, of course, call them again to confirm, what has been your experiences on Lufthansa flying through / to Germany and Italy in the past month?

Thanks!

Sorry I cant speak for Lufthansa but I did fly Turkish into Frankfurt and United out of Frankfurt in October and no covid test was required for either airline or at customs in the airport.

Quoting the web site of the Federal Ministry of Health:

On June 1st, the obligation to provide proof – vaccinated, recovered or tested negative – ended when entering Germany. Excluded are people arriving from a virus variant area. However, no country is currently classified as a virus variant area.

I flew EWR-MUC with Lufthanwa last week. No one was interested in my proof of vaccination.

FYI- No one in Europe is going to ask about your vaccination status. At worse, you will be asked to wear a N95 type mask on some tours or transport.
