Lufthansa cargo kennel guidlines

As we are planning our move to Germany with our 2 doodles I am researching the hard shell cargo kennels. My dilemma is that the xxl size for a sky kennel is larger then what Lufthansa says their largest allowed size is on their website. Lufthansa website says 49” long,29” wide and 33” height is their largest size they allow. Well Petmate Sky kennel largest size is 48” long 32” wide and 35” height. Can I still
Use that kennel?

I have no 1st hand experience, but what do you think? The kennel you mention is too large in 2 of the 3 dimensions.

Have you asked Lufthansa? Theirs is the answer that counts, not anyone here.

I think that nobody on any forum can give you a for LHC valid answer since this is a customer service question and finally their decision. I recommend to contact and ask LHC directly.

Please also be aware of needed documents and hanling when bringing living animals into Schengen area.

Cargo holds take pieces of specific size so that they can put the puzzle together and make everything fit with no wasted space.

If they give specific dimensions, then those are the dimensions they need. If yours doesn't fit, I guess you could get somebody whose cargo is next to yours to bunch up or shrink so yours will fit. As that is unlikely, I'd have a chat to Lufthansa Customer Service who can tell you how expensive it will be to take an outsize piece, and what the implications will be.

Only they can answer your question authoritatively.

Good luck.
