Ludwigsburg

Anyone been there and have recommendations? Turns out my partner's family came from there. We're going to Stuttgart in May for a Porsche factory tour (we own Porsches) and just discovered this connection. Would love to hear from past travelers.

Thanks!

We visited Ludwigsburg last April.

We stayed in the Komfort Hotel, a business hotel near the train station. It had a decent breakfast and a nice staff. Rooms were pretty standard and just fine.

We enjoyed the Residenz Gardens quite a bit but did not go into the Residenz itself.

The town is pleasant and very walkable. Lots of cafes and restaurants. We had a couple nice meals at a small German menu restaurant (name?) on the north side of Mathildenstraße but I can not find it on the map. Maybe it is gone.

Ludwigsburg has good train connections to Stuttgart.

Ludwigsburg is worth at least a full day. Three palaces (Favorite, Ludwigsburg and Montrepos) and their respective gardens/parks. The town core has a decent square and streets.

I own a Dodge Caravan. The missus and I can lie down side by side in the back, where she can stretch her long legs fully. I bet you can't do that in your Porsche.

If you are motorised, staying in Ludwigsburg, and are interested in car racing, nearby is Hockenheim, where the race tracks are.

German car racing takes place in Hockenheim, which you would be close to in Ludwigsburg....can't help you with accommodations in Ludwigsburg, only stayed in Stuttgart.
