Looking for weekend suggestions leaving Frankfurt

Hello,
I work for a German company which translates to frequent travel to the Frankfurt area headquarters. I will be making my seventh trip this year in mid-September. Several times a year I am required to stay over the weekend as I have meetings into the upcoming week. I like to take advantage of these weekends and travel. Over the last couple years I have been fortunate to go to France (Paris, Avignon, Nice, Strasbourg, Chamonix); Barcelona, Amsterdam, Prague, Vienna, Munich, Rome, Geneva, Dublin. Decades ago I followed the RS ETTBD tour on romantic road, Austria etc.

I am looking for suggestions for future trips. I typically work a full day on Friday and return Sunday night/early Monday. Though I don't mind driving in EU, I really prefer the train (max 5 hour trip) or short flight. On my list are Dresden, Berlin (would like more than 2 days), Bruge, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Madrid. Ideally I would like to go to France this next visit but not having luck as I search DB for areas I recognize or reasonable train rides.

Appreciate your suggestions.

If you're looking for a good time on a weekend night near Frankfurt, head over to Rüdesheim. Many of the restaurants play live Schlager music. Not everyone's taste, I know- listen to Hessiche Rundfunk 4 next time you're in the area for a preview. But it's a fun atmosphere, especially once the bachelorette and stag parties from the neighboring cities start to pour in.

On your list... Copenhagen is too far by train for a weekend, but it's an easy flight from Frankfurt. Brugge is fairly simple by train. There's a regular evening ICE between Frankfurt and Brussels run by DB, and from Brussels, and from there, an intercity every half hour or so to Brugge.

September is Strasseweinfest season in the Mosel Valley, always a good time.
Berlin is less than 4 hours on an ICE, maybe 2 weekends worth there.

The ever-lovely Wurzburg, towns along the Rhine, Strasbourg, Baden-Baden....
P.S. Can I have your job? ;)

From Frankfurt you can get to almost every place in Europe within 5 hours, often with budget airlines. IMHO it doesn't make sense to recommend something in particular. Just visit what interests you.
BTW: Frankfurt is also a great base for weekend trips within Germany, especially if you are brave enough to leave the American comfort zone (Bavaria + Rhine).
