Lodging Stuttgart Hbf

My wife and I will be arriving at the Stuttgart Hbf the evening of September 27 and departing the next morning by train. We are looking for a no-frills, good-night's-sleep kind of place that won't break the bank. Will the Stuttgart Cannstatt Beer Festival be a problem with lodging? We'd like to find a place within walking distance of the Hbf if possible. Thanks for any help.

Jon, We had reservations for 1 night at the City Hotel in Stuttgart which was quite nice but the taxi tried to take us first to the Intercity Hotel which is actually part of the BahnHof. I tried to find Intercity Hotel, Stuttgart on Tripadvisor to see how good it is since I can't recommend it but Tripadvisor doesn't even show a listing. City Hotel isn't very far away although we did take a 5-minute taxi ride to the station. The staff, rooms and breakfast were all wonderful.

In this case, where location is key and I don't have any boo-based recommendations, I would go to Google Maps and search "hotels near Stuttgart Hbf," then follow from the map results to the hotel web sites for more info.

Darcy: The hotel you suggested looked great, but alas they were booked. I tried a different approach and went to the Airbnb site and tried a half-dozen or so listings and they were all booked! Is the "Beer Fest" a big deal in Stuttgart or is there something else going on September 27-28? Thanks for the suggestion.
Laura: Your approach is likely what I'll try next. I've tried this in the past and on those occasions the listings were "weighted" toward the higher-priced hotels, but I'll give it a try. Thank you.

Yes, the Bierfest is a big deal.

I checked HRS.com and they have nothing in Stuttgart, only in the surrounding area. If you are leaving the next morning by train, you might consider a town along the way. HRS.com is a good tool if you want a room in a strange city in Germany.

Booking dot com have 61 results for that date but many are quite expensive.

They do show a twin room at Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe which is pretty nice for an airport hotel (personal experience) for €117 plus brekkie etc. Decent transport to the Hbf from there. 9.1 on booking dot com which is purty decent.

Darcy:
I re-contacted the City Hotel and was able to work out a booking that was a bit unorthodox but successful nonetheless. Thanks for the recommendation.
